Without signs, it’s likely that many people wouldn’t be aware of the various types of businesses and other establishments in their area. While the purposes of some buildings may be obvious due to their specific architectural features and type of activity, the purpose of other buildings may not be as clear. This is one of the main reasons why signs are essential.
Most people live or work relatively close to where they shop, dine out, or engage in other types of activities. In fact, 85% of the individuals that shop at a specific business tend to live or work within five miles. One of the reasons for this is convenience, of course. Another is because these consumers tend to see a business’ sign on a regular basis. Otherwise, they might not be aware of that particular business, which was the case with 35% of a recent poll’s participants.
The poll also found that 71% of its participants will actually look at both traditional and digital signs when they pass by them. Approximately a third of the participants stated that they almost always looked at signs when they passed by them. Since 68% of the participants stated that they either “sometimes” or “frequently” decided where to shop when driving in their cars, having effective signage can make a definite impact. It’s also important to note that people will notice signs when they pass by them on the bus, while riding bicycles, or when walking.
If someone is unable to make a stop to go shopping or dine at a restaurant when they first notice its sign, they will often make note of it for future reference. In terms of visiting retail shops at a later date, 32% of the participants stated that they did so within the very same week. It’s likely that these signs contained important information, which included hours of operation. These signs may also have included information about current or upcoming sales, specials, or other intriguing details.
When businesses have on-site signs, these have been recognized as being the equivalent of running 24 full-page newspaper ads every year. Since quality does make a difference, when these signs are well-designed and contain the appropriate level of information, they reflect even more positively on a business. Given this, if you have just launched a business or have been in business for a while, you may want to give some serious thought to your signage.
Businesses with older signs, for example, may want to consider upgrading. When a business has a small storefront sign, replacing it with a larger sign can potentially increase revenue by up to 7.7%. Furthermore, the mere act of adding or changing a sign appears to pique potential shoppers’ curiosity, which is another reason why you may want to consider installing LED signs for businesses.
In addition to signage for businesses, outdoor LED signs are also popular for schools, churches, government offices, and other types of establishments. Marquee signs for schools, for example, can provide information about special events, hours of operation, and vacation times. Church marques as well as marquee signs for schools, can both post inspirational statements. Just like government buildings and businesses can post their hours of operation, website addresses, and special notices, so, too, can marquee signs for schools.
If your business is in the market for new signs, you can really draw attention to your establishment with LED signs. These are becoming more popular because they are energy-efficient and available in a variety of styles. Just imagine the visual impact that a full-color LED sign could have on your business!
