Your state may require you to take ongoing education courses in order to renew your license. In Pennsylvania, a course needs to be taken every two years.
You may be required to use a gun during the course of your job. It’s best to take gun training classes in order to not only keep yourself safe, but for the safety of others. Bail bond agents are allowed to use unlicensed guns. You can also choose to carry non-lethal weapons like pepper spray. Most of the time, you will be in an office and going through paperwork.
